A little history of why helping people to quit smoking is important to me:

I had the pleasure of growing up with two smokers in the house back in the seventies and eighties.  My Dad had a three pack a day Parliament 100 habit while my Mom smoked two packs of Salem. I fondly remember those long trips to visit my cousins in Long Island in my Dad’s panel station wagon with my two younger brothers and  I, while my parents were smoking away.  Back then the secondhand smoke debate really hadn’t started so we just had to figure out how to breathe during those rides.

Back then we didn’t need an alarm clock. My father was kind enough to wake us up every morning hocking up a lung in the kitchen sink or bathroom.  My parents smoked pretty much everywhere in the house and we had to just deal with it.

One day my father did his usual early morning coughing routine and couldn’t catch his breath. He was in a panic, put down the cigarettes and ran to the doctor. Early onset of emphysema was the diagnosis. My father never smoked a cigarette again and my mother followed shortly after. What got my father to quit? FEAR! Unfortunately, fear doesn’t always work for people who are trying to quit. My parents were lucky!

Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States. Since the release of the Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking and Health in 1964, there have been more than 21 million deaths due to tobacco.

More people than ever before are trying to quit smoking.

After finally realizing just how dangerous cigarettes really are, they contain chemicals such as formaldehyde, arsenic, and acetone just to mention a few, more people are trying to quit smoking like never before. They want to be free of the smoking habit and be healthier.

Instead of Marlboro Man ads we now have ads for drugs and products like Zyban, Chantix, and vaping products on television. Each of these drugs and products has its own side effects that are mumbled very quickly at the end of the ad.

Chantix can cause a depressed mood, irritability, and aggression, Zyban as well. In vaping products, a flavoring known as diacetyl has been linked to lung disease. With choices like this, who would want to quit smoking!

Good news, there is a healthier solution; Laser Smoking Cessation. Back in 2007, I was trained and certified in this unique therapy. Since then I have helped over 2000 people on their journey to quitting smoking.

Over 2000 people have been able to successfully quit smoking through treatment at my practice!

How the Laser Quit Smoking Program Works

During an initial consultation, I will determine if you have any health issues such as cancer that would prevent you from being treated. I make sure that you are ready mentally and physically to take part in the program. Those that are attempting to quit while moving, changing jobs or going through a divorce are usually persuaded to wait. Events such as these are very stressful and can easily trigger a relapse.

After making sure you are ready, we then begin the laser treatment.  Roughly 34 acupuncture points on the ears, face, arms, and hand are treated for 20 seconds each with a painless beam of cold laser. Focusing on these points stimulates an elevation of endorphins in the brain to give you a sense of relaxation. This is the same sensation you as a smoker gets after smoking a cigarette.

For smokers, the endorphin elevation from smoking a cigarette is short lived and you very quickly crave your next cigarette. However, the laser treatment keeps the endorphin levels elevated for a much longer and extended period than a cigarette. By receiving Laser Smoking Cessation treatment for two consecutive days we’re able to extend this elevated endorphin state for several days getting you through your craving to smoke a cigarette.

Smoking is as much a habit as it is an addiction and I will help teach you how to change your routine so that you can become free of the smoking habit. Quitting smoking is not easy and many people have failed to quit more than once. Ironically one of the main reasons people fail to quit smoking is the fear of failing to quit smoking. The fear of failure and the fear of withdrawal discomfort overrides the fear for their health. The long-term success rate of our Laser Quit Smoking Program is close to 80%.
